Johnson Lifts with a comprehensive product range in elevators and escalators has had an exponential growth in the last 10 years. They have provided infrastructure to public service projects pan India and have done 12 Metro Projects, 27 Airports and over 800 + Elevators in Railway Stations.

Despite Multi-Nationals having entered the Indian market, Johnson Lifts continues to be No.1 in India and is manufacturing over 12000 units annually. “There has been a significant growth in the opportunities available owing to the major urban infrastructure development programs. The growing opportunities have attracted many multinational players, hence bringing in stiff competition in excellence and efficiency. Johnson Lifts is proud to stand through this competition and yet be preferred, thus retaining our No. 1 position in the market,” said Mr. V. Jagannathan, Executive Director.

Mr. Jagannathan, further added that “Johnson Lifts steadily holds a strong position of being No. 1 inspite of multinational players, owing to their established strong After Sales Service Network, Service Practices, Quick Responses and capability in large Project Management.” Timely launch of new technology, customer centric models with competitive pricing, ensuring Value for Money with committed deliverables has been an added advantage.
Apart from their presence in 5 overseas countries, Nepal, Srilanka, Tanzania, Dubai and Myanmar, their coverage in India is through 54 branches with 10,000 strong employees.
“In 2009, JLPL clocked a Sales Turnover of Rs. 419 crores with 5200 units and in 2019 we have crossed Rs. 2000 crores with 12000+ units being delivered, thereby ensuring a pan India market leading share of over 20% ” said Mr. Yohan John, Director.

Chennai Metro, Railways and Airports
The Central Government schemes on major Urban Infra Structure Development programmes in India like Metro Rail Projects, UDAN – Regional Airport development and connectivity scheme and the modernization of Airports, Railways Stations, Bus Terminals and Foot Over Bridges at important junctions has given rise to a great opportunity for heavy duty escalators used in Mass Transportation systems in different parts of India.

“In the proposed integrated terminal at the Chennai airport which is part of the phase 2 modernisation project, we have been awarded the contract to manufacture and install 41 Lifts, 50 Escalators & 12 Movingwalks. This will facilitate an increased passenger handling capacity from 18 million to 35 million and will ensure free flow of traffic within Terminals, both arrival & departure, to the multi-level car parking and to the Airport Metro station. We have also been awarded by the Metro Rail the additional requirement of 32 Escalators and 39 Lifts to be installed in 9 Stations from Washermanpet to Wimco Nagar” said Mr. Albert Dhiraviyam, Country Head – Marketing.

New Factory
From two factories in 2009, Johnson Lifts has expanded to four factories in 2019 with a combined facility that produces 16000 Lifts per annum. ”Foreseeing the Growth in Lift requirements and the need for Heavy Duty Escalators, a new integrated, fully automated lift factory is now ready for production at a 1.4 lakh sqm facility at Sengadu, T.N. This factory will be able to produce additional 6000 Lifts per annum. Also an additional line for Heavy Duty Escalators has been installed at the Oragadum factory. This additional line will be able to produce 500 Escalators per annum” said the Director, Yohan K John.

The central government schemes on major Urban Infra Structure Development programmes in India like Metro Rail Projects, UDAN – Regional Airport development and connectivity scheme and the modernization of Airports, Railways Stations, Bus Terminals and Foot Over Bridges at important junctions has given rise to a great opportunity for heavy duty escalators used in Mass Transportation systems in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune and Western Maharashtra.
“Johnson Heavy Duty Escalators have been running successfully in several Suburban stations and other stations across Maharashtra for more than 5 years and the design bears testimony to the continuous rugged usage of 20×7 hours/365 days operation. Now Johnson will also provide Lifts and Escalators for the Metro Stations between Belapur to Pendhar, Dahisar to DN Nagar, Siddhi Vinayak to Cuffe Parade and Andheri East to Dahisar East Phase of the Metro Rail project comprising 287 escalators and 138 Lifts valuing to Rs. 247+ crores.” said Mr. Yohan K John, Director
“For Central Railway, Johnson will be providing 115 Escalators and 129 lifts for the stations between Central Line CST Mumbai to Lonoavala Suburban and for the Werstern Railway we will be providing 65 Escalators valuing to Rs. 119.74+ cores“ he further added.
In the last 3 years, the company has established additional service centers, introduced mobile service van and implemented real time smart phone service thereby rendering timely quality service to customers. “This has helped Johnson Lifts to expand their presence geographically in Maharashtra and Satellite offices have now been set up in the Shridhi – Solapur – Kolhapur belt due to the increased business from Tier 2 & Tier 3 cities. To cater to this market, JLPL launched competitive models to accommodate elevator in compact lift shaft size and machine roomless elevators” said Mr. V. Sivakumar, GM, Western Region.

The vertical transportation industry in Karnataka is 6000+ units, of which Johnson Lifts being 1100 units. Holding a market share of 18% in Karnataka, their business in residential projects is 65%, commercial projects is 15% and infrastructure is 20%.

“Johnson Lifts are expanding their presence geographically by setting up offices in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities like Mysore, Hubli, Gulbarga, Dvavangere, Belgaum and Mangalore.
